Round 3, Giant Enduro Trails

The third race of Central European Enduro was held in the Enduro Trails mountain bike trail complex located next to the city of Bielsko-Biała in Poland. The nice, medium-sized city is surrounded by mountains which hide an impressive network of freshly built, natural and quite gnarly singletracks. Most of the trails were built for the enduro racing events over the last few years but besides race tracks, there are also many kilometres of trails for all kind of bikers (from beginners to experienced bikers). Simply it is a great location for Enduro riding and racing.

This year the race in Poland was hard with four long and demanding special stages. The weather wasn´t really ideal for racing, it was a very hot and sunny day and it was really difficult to pedal up all of the transfers. The stages had some challenging numbers with nearly 1,500m of elevation drop and the total length was about 10km. They were really fast and also very technical in few places (e.g. sections of steep rocks on the trails called “Dziabar” and “Kamieniołom” or riders could enjoy also famous rooty section on “Stary Zielony” trail).

It was great to see top riders from Poland, Czech, and Slovakia at the start as they made super exciting racing. Only one rider finished the whole race below 20 minutes, Michal Prokop from the Czech Republic set the time on 19’57’’. He was chased during the whole race by Robert Piekara from Poland, who won two special stages but crashed on the last one and in the end finished second, just in front of Milan Mysik, who was third.

Figura Ela was the fastest woman, Vojtěch Blaha won Junior category and Wojtek Koniuszewski won the Masters Category.

The next stop of Central European Enduro is in Spicak, Czech Republic (on 16–17th September, registration is already open on this link) and the final edition is held in Treuchtingen, Germany (on 14–15th of October, registration can be found here).
